I’m Hattie, a commercial photographer for the pet industry. I work with businesses across the UK and Europe, creating photographs for their websites, social media and print marketing materials. When I’m not working, you’ll find me out exploring Cornwall with my three dogs. My working cocker spaniels Woody and Hen (hen was originally a foster dog of mine but he never left!) and Cally, a working cocker cross labrador are the stars of the show. We enjoy paddle boarding, coast path hiking and camping across the county. Of course, I share all our adventures here on The Cornish Dog website!
I started The Cornish Dog shortly after adopting my first working cocker spaniel, Woody. He was the first dog I owned in Cornwall and I wasn’t sure where was safe to walk him. You see, when he first arrived his recall was far from reliable. Thankfully it’s improved now. However, I used to spend hours searching for walks and dog friendly days out that were suitable for him, to no avail. So, I decided to start my own website sharing our adventures. My main criteria for walks are that they’re easy to find, clear of main roads and with minimal livestock. With each review I make sure to detail any hazards you might come across along the way including steep cliffs, mine shafts or farmers fields, in an effort to provide as much information as possible!
While The Cornish Dog started as a place to document my walks, it’s since developed into a wider resource. Here I share in depth reviews and recommendations for beaches, dog friendly accommodation, eateries, attractions, days out and general information to help you plan your next dog friendly trip to Cornwall. Whether you’re a new dog owner looking to build your confidence or a holidaymaker searching for a local’s best kept secrets, this website is for you!
The Cornish Dog is on social media too! Be sure to follow both us on Instagram and TikTok to keep up to date with our adventures.
