Woody has been patiently saving up his pawcket money for months. He’s been excited to visit Paws in Padstow all year but due to the awful winter weather, we never seemed to venture much further than Truro. With sunshine and long evenings finally returning to the Duchy, we jumped at the chance to explore this much loved pet boutique in Padstow.

DOGSCLOSURE: We received a discount on our purchases from Paws in Padstow, in exchange for this blogpost.

Based within the Trevisker Garden Centre, Paws in Padstow opened in April 2017. It’s run by Rocky the Beagle and his owners Mike and Lynsey who fell in love with Cornwall after visiting on a family holiday. The boutique is situated just outside of Padstow town and has free parking and a dog friendly café on site. It’s really easy to find, I just popped it into Google Maps and my phone took us straight there.

Of course Woody headed straight for the treats and what a selection they have! Paws in Padstow are passionate about supporting local pet businesses and stock a range of familiar brands. They also help organise pet business events like the first Business Bark Networking event in Cornwall, which I would highly recommend!
Paws in Padstow is more than you’re average pet shop. Their boutique is beautifully curated, with your pet’s health and wellbeing at its heart. Both Lynz and Mike are incredibly clued up when it comes to pet products. They were eager to offer the recommendations to me. I learnt so much more about raw feeding thanks to our chat with Mike!

Paws in Padstow also support local rescue charity K9 Crusaders, who work hard to re-home dogs in Cornwall. Not only is there a charity collection pot on the counter, Lynz and Mike also accept donations of old blankets, towels and unwanted sealed food. Something I’ll have to remember for next time, as we’ve got plenty of unused dog towels lying around at home.
Woody and I enjoyed wandering around, picking out new treats and toys for Woody to try. We walked away with quite the selection, from frozen yoghurt treats to tennis balls and even a new squeaky toy crab. His name is Chris by the way…

Paws in Padstow stock a variety of local brands including Paws for Cake dog treats, Doggy Chic leads and Hudson Handmade. There are plenty of eco friendly options too including Beco toys and biodegradable poo bags and P.L.A.Y soft toys, which are made from recycled plastic.
There’s a wide range of dog themed homewares too. Wandering around the cushions, mugs and coat hangers is a dog lover’s dream. Their stock is also available online through the Paws in Padstow shop, however it’s definitely worth making a visit in person if you can. It’s just so stunning and you can’t beat the expertise of Lynz and Mike. They’ve even compiled a handy guide to Padstow’s best loved dog walks, which you’ll find on the noticeboard by the door.

It was soon time to explore a new walk that Mike recommended. Trevose Head to Constantine Bay. I had to drag Woody away from the treats and toys. It’s safe to say he had a whale of a time. Many of the shelves are at dog height, particularly when it comes to balls and toys. This meant Woody could choose things for himself, though I did have to stop him before costs spiralled too high!
I would highly recommend a visit to Paws in Padstow. I’ve never been in a pet shop quite like it. I did film our trip, as we were attending the Business Bark Networking event in the café next door. I will warn you though, my camera ran out of battery so the video does stop suddenly. I’m still working on my vlogging game!
