Working Cocker Spaniel | The Cornish Dog

Strange things have been happening in our house recently. Stair gates have been installed and adjustments have been made in the garden. Sentimental and precious possessions have been relocated, far from floor level and I have been busy purchasing the bare necessities. Enough teasing and Disney references, it’s time to introduce you to our newest family member, Woody the Working Cocker Spaniel!

Woody (aptly named after my favourite Disney Pixar film of all time, Toy Story) is a 1 year old Working Cocker Spaniel who we have recently welcomed into our home. I came across his advert online and he was being rehomed due his previous owners working long hours. Due to a change in circumstances they could no longer commit to the attention and time he needs. Being a spaniel, he’s an energetic ball of fun and loves his walks and since being adopted, we haven’t stopped!

Living in rented accommodation and working full-time, I thought we wouldn’t be able to have a dog for a while. However, after a few exchanges of emails, it turns out both my Landlady and Managers at work were happy for us to adopt Woody and a week or so later my dream became reality!

I’m really enjoying getting to know Woody and the intricacies of his personality. He is definitely mad, as many cocker spaniels are and though his recall is an area of improvement and something we are constantly working on, we have definitely fallen in love with Woody! I am outdoors far more than I have been before and we have already been on so many adventures! I am already seeing and feeling the benefits of having Woody around and can’t wait to see where his inquisitive nature takes us next!
