We stayed in Bedruthan’s Sea View Villa, one of 5 dog friendly bedrooms throughout the hotel. Shared spaces, including the Wild Café, Tranquility Lounge and hotel reception are all dog friendly too. I was particularly impressed by the dog sitting service at Bedruthan Hotel. If you prefer to have time away from your dogs, you can drop them off at Reception to be looked after while you enjoy time in the spa or dare I say it, a meal in peace!
The room itself was absolutely stunning. We arrived just in time to watch the sunset over Mawgan Porth beach, which lit the room up in beautiful crimsons and golds. Mawgan Porth beach is dog friendly all year round and is a 10 minute walk from the hotel. There are plenty of incredible walks nearby, including Bedruthan Steps and Polly Joke. Trevose Head near Padstow and the Camel Trail are also a short drive away.
There’s an overall limit of 6 dogs in the hotel at any one time, as Bedruthan respects not all guests like dogs. Consequently it’s a great place to holiday if your dog is nervous or wary of other dogs, as you’re unlikely to bump into too many of them during your stay. Dogs are allowed on the furniture in the bedrooms, which is such a relief as Woody and Hen have free reign at home. We highly recommend travelling with plenty of blankets, towels and drying coats to help protect your accommodation as much as possible from sand and mud. It’s our responsibility as dog owners to ensure our pets are no trouble while on holiday. After all, dog friendly accommodation is a luxury and one that can easily be taken away!
The Bedruthan Hotel went above and beyond for Woody and Hen during our stay. They were even treated to a dog welcome pack on their arrival. Inside were plenty of food and water bowls (something I always seem to forget when travelling!), dog friendly guides to the area, a packet of poo bags and most importantly treats from Buddy Love Dog Treats. The dogs also had their own beds in the room, two beautiful plush cushions in a tropical bird pattern. I brought their crate with us on this trip and popped the beds inside. This gave the dogs a cosy den to sleep in, leaving the king sized bed all for me!
We dined at the Wild Café during our stay, which is family and dog friendly, serving contemporary food throughout the day. We enjoyed a three course dinner in the evening, which was delicious. I highly recommend the chicken wings, burger and duck egg crème brûlée! They also serve a buffet breakfast in the morning, complete with cereals, pastries and of course plenty of Cornish eggs, bacon and sausages!
There was just enough time to enjoy the indoor spa before after we checked out of our room. The facilities are stunning and open to day visitors too. It features an indoor swimming pool, warm hydropool with water jets and a selection of saunas and steam rooms.
Start in the caldarium, breathe deeply and gently warm up your body. Move around the hydropool, feel the power of the water jets on tired muscles. Take deep breaths in the eucalyptus steam room. Soothe and heat your body in our cedar wood sauna. Take in the view of the ocean below. A variety of treatments are available, including massages and facials. I’ve heard incredible things about Bedruthan’s Sensory Spa Garden too, which is a one hour outdoor spa adventure. We ran out of time on this trip but it’s something I’d love to experience next time!
